Busey is committed to providing safe and affordable account offerings to all of our customers. We are pleased to share that we are updating our checking account options to best meet customer needs. All changes are detailed below.

Recent Account Changes

Why is my account type changing?
Busey is committed to improving offerings to meet our customer’s banking needs. Your new Foundation Checking Account will include:
  • No minimum balance requirement
  • No monthly maintenance fees
  • Overdraft Advantage available (upon request and approval)
  • Paper statements for $4 per statement cycle or enroll in free eStatements
  • Unlimited check writing, ATM, and debit card transactions
  • 24/7 mobile and online banking
  • Busey Bank Debit Card – Your checking account number and debit card will not change.
Will my account number change?
No. Your account number will stay the same.

What do I need to do?
We will automatically change your Student Checking account to a Busey Foundation Checking account, no action is needed on your part.

What if I don’t want a Foundation Checking Account?
If you would prefer an alternate option to a Foundation Checking Account, we would be happy to discuss other account options with you.

When will my account transfer?
Your account will be transferred to a new account type beginning May 1, 2024.

What changes can I expect from the new account?
There are many benefits, including access to eBank, no Minimum Balance or Average Balance fees. Overdraft Advantage (upon request and approval) and free eStatements are also available with your account.

We have already changed your Student Checking Account to a Busey Foundation Checking Account, no action is needed on your part.

Why is my Pillar Banking Account being updated?
We are implementing these updates because Busey is committed to improving offerings to meet our customer’s banking needs.

What is being updated on my Pillar Banking Account?
Your pillar account will be updated with the following:
  • Pillar Banking Accounts will require a combined balance of $15,000 daily in eligible accounts for the Pillar Banking statement cycle.
  • CDs and IRAs will now be included as eligible balances, making it even easier to maintain the minimum balance and better representing your deposits with Busey. If the combined minimum balance requirement is not met, there will be a $15 monthly maintenance fee.
Once my Pillar Banking Account is updated, will I be charged for paper statements?
No, the Paper Statement Fee continues to be waived for all Pillar Banking Accounts.

When will the update occur?
The updates will go into effect on May 1, 2024.

What do I need to do to update my account?
You don’t need to do anything, we will update your account automatically.

What if I don’t like these changes?
Busey offers a variety of account types. Please call Customer Care at 800.672.8739 or visit your local Service Center to speak to someone who can help you pick the product that is right for you.
Why has my Pillar Banking Account been updated?
We have implemented these updates because Busey is committed to improving offerings to meet our customer’s banking needs.

What has been updated on my Pillar Banking Account?
Your Pillar account has been updated with the following:

  • Pillar Banking Accounts require a combined balance of $15,000 daily in eligible accounts for the Pillar Banking statement cycle.
  • CDs and IRAs are included as eligible balances, making it even easier to maintain the minimum balance and better representing your deposits with Busey. If the combined minimum balance requirement is not met, there will be a $15 monthly maintenance fee.
